Actor Antonio Banderas Reveals He Has Tested Positive for Coronavirus on His 60th Birthday

The omnipresent coronavirus has infected people in every country, from big cities to small communities, along with every economic class, not excluding top politicians, star athletes, celebrities and more.


Spanish actor, Antonio Banderas (actual name: José Antonio Domínguez Bandera) is the latest celebrity to reveal a positive covid-19 diagnosis on Monday (Aug 10. ) The news also happened to land on his 60th birthday.

The academy award nominated actor has played roles in several films including "The Mask of Zorro," "Shrek 2" and Quentin Tarantino's "Desperado." He announced the news via Instagram with a caption written in spanish.




"Hello everyone, I want to make public that today, August 10, I am forced to celebrate my 60th birthday following quarantine, having tested positive with Covid-19 disease," Banderas wrote. "I would like to add that I feel relatively well, just a little more tired than usual and confident that I will recover as soon as possible following the medical indications that I hope will allow me to overcome the infectious process that I suffer and that is affecting so many people around the planet." Banderas added that he is currently quarantined and is following medical instructions with the hope of overcoming "the infectious period that I am suffering."


“I will take advantage of this isolation to read, write, rest and continue making plans to begin to give meaning to my 60 years, to which I arrive full of enthusiasm. A big hug to everyone,” Banderas concluded.


Bandera's alongside Sophia Ali, Tati Gabrielle, are set to star in the upcoming Uncharted film slated for nationwide release on Friday, July 16, 2021. Developed by Sony, Uncharted was released as a Playstation game in 2007. Since then, it has been one of the most popular video game franchises.


The new Uncharted film will be an origin story of Nathan Drake. It will be directed by Ruben Fleischer and written by Art Marcum and Matt Holloway. The film was originally supposed to release in December 2020. However, due to the coronavirus pandemic, it has been postponed in 2021.
