Comedian Kathy Griffin Reveals Lung Cancer Diagnosis

Kathy Griffin announced her cancer diagnosis on Monday via her verified Instagram Account.

"I've got to tell you guys something. I have cancer," Griffin began a note posted Monday on her verified Instagram account.

"I'm about to go into surgery to have half of my left lung removed," the note continued. "Yes, I have lung cancer even though I've never smoked!"

According to a CNN report, Griffin's doctors "are optimistic" that the cancer is contained to her left lung in stage 1. Griffin's note reads that she expects to not have to undergo chemotherapy or radiation treatments and she should "be up and running around as usual in a month or less".

The news comes years after the comedian shaved her head in solidarity with her sister who was undergoing chemo in 2017. Kathy reassured her followers that she was fully vaccinated and to stay up-to-date on medical checkups.
