Brace yourselves, because according to the latest whispers, a sequel to the iconic movie 'The Devil Wears Prada' is in the works!
Earlier this week, Puck revealed the possibility of a sequel to The Devil Wears Prada being in the works at Disney. Deadline also verified this information through sources, although representatives from the studio declined to provide an official statement to Vanity Fair.
Although no official statement has been released by the studio, it was reported that the sequel would focus on the difficulties that print media is encountering in the 21st century—this is one of the main reasons why Hathaway is hesitant about the project.
Entertainment Weekly's source revealed talks to bring back Streep, Hathaway, Blunt, and Tucci for the film, including Tucci as Nigel. The original director, screenwriter, and producer are also in discussions.
Adapted from Lauren Weisberger's popular novel, inspired by her experience as an assistant to Vogue's editor in chief Anna Wintour, the movie depicts Hathaway's Andy Sachs delving into the realm of luxury fashion publishing. Andy finds herself captivated by Streep's formidable Miranda Priestly but manages to break away from her by the end of the film. Interestingly, the character encounters her ex-boss again in two subsequent novels penned by Weisberger.
According to reports, the sequel is expected to centers on Miranda Priestly nearing the end of her career and dealing with the diminishing popularity of conventional magazine publishing. She finds herself in a confrontation with her former assistant, Emily Charlton played by Blunt, who has risen to become a prominent executive at a luxury brand group, whose advertising revenue Priestly is in dire need of.
