Famed White House intern, Monica Lewinsky, sparked a Twitter debate on Thursday on whether she should buy a Subaru or a Tesla as her next car.
Lewinsky tweeted "so very me. can’t decide between a subaru or a tesla"
Her tweet quickly went viral, receiving over 21.8k likes and a response from Tesla founder, Elon Musk. He responded with "Try a Tesla & you’re welcome to give it back if you decide you prefer a Subaru."
The tweet further resulted in "Subaru" trending on Twitter with thousands of responses related to Lewinsky's request.
Lewinsky went on to reveal that she used to own a used Subaru in college that was worth $1200 in parts, in a response to a fan tweet. The responses were split between the Subaru community and Tesla drivers. Many users tweeted about their disdain for Elon Musk and expressed Lewinsky's tweet as tone-deaf during a time when most people can't pay their rent amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
People even dragged their pets into the Twitter debate stating Subaru loves dogs and Tesla is for cat owners.
Lewinsky left the twitterverse hanging on which vehicle she decided to buy.
