Sony Pictures dropped a new trailer on Monday for the upcoming movie ‘Ghostbusters: Afterlife’ movie which is slated for release Summer of 2020.
In the trailer, Carrie Coon plays the mom, Mckenna Grace, plays daughter Phoebe, and Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things,) plays Travis, the son. The family moves into a mansion owned by Coon’s late father, who turns out to be Dr. Egon Spengler, played by the late Harold Ramis in the original Ghostbusters and its sequel.
As Phoebe and her brother explore the creepy mansion, they learn about their grandfather’s former life as a Ghostbuster. Paul Rudd stars as the kids’ summer school teacher. Together, they uncover a strange, supernatural occurrence underneath their small town and work together to fight off ghosts.
We also get an appearance of Slimer and the Ghostbusters’ original Ecto-1 ambulance/hearse coming out of retirement in a barn. Fans can also expect original cast members Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, and Sigourney Weaver who will return from the original franchise.
Ghostbusters: Afterlife is directed by Jason Reitman and produced by his son, Ivan Reitman. Reitman has stated that this movie serves as a direct sequel to the original two films.
Ghostbusters: Afterlife arrives in theaters in summer 2020.
