The stars came out for the 2020 Art of Elysium Heaven Gala on Saturday night (January 4) at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles. The 13th annual celebration’s theme was titled “Heaven Is Rock and Roll” and curated by Linda Perry (4 Non Blondes) and Kerry Brown of the WE ARE HEAR Organization.

The black-tie gala took on a laid-back approach this year, transforming the Hollywood Palladium to look more like New York’s CBGB club. Inside the venue, the stage backdrop was plastered with black and white band posters of Blondie, The Cramps and Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds and more. Attendees enjoyed a dinner by celebrity chef, Eric Greenspan and cocktail hour provided by Santi Pinot Grigio and Amarone.

23-year-old supermodel, Bella Hadid and friend Jesse Jo Stark were joined by fellow model Jasmine Sanders, Aly & AJ, Cameron Monaghan, and Kat Graham.

Topher and Ashley Grace were honored for their long-standing contributions and support to the organization throughout the years.

Marilyn Manson played a version of “Sweet Dreams” alongside Linda Perry and Shooter Jennings.

Many attendees took photos by an installation titled “Red Angel Wings” which displayed a giant set of red neon angel wings created by artist Beau Dunn.

One of the night's biggest highlight's was the reunion of surviving band members of Nirvana, drummer Dave Grohl, bassist Krist Novoselic, and guitarist Pat Smear who came together to play a short set of songs including “Heart Shaped Box” with St. Vincent on vocals as the front woman in place of the late Kurt Cobain. Beck and 13-year-old, Violet Grohl performed background vocals on the set.

The gala closed out with a set by Cheap Trick playing a few of their most popular songs, including “Surrender.”

Founded in 1997, The Art of Elysium has supported artists working for the benefit of others for the past twenty years to connect disadvantaged people. Tickets sold from $250-$4000 + for VIP group packages with proceeds directly supporting the organization’s programs and services.
