The stars came out for Christian Cowan x The Powerpuff Girls Season II Runway Show at NeueHouse in Los Angeles on Sunday night (March 8) in honor of International Women's Day 2020.
Designer Christian Cowan reimagined Cartoon Network’s Powerpuff Girls with an inspired fashion show taking the characters from the infamous cartoon series straight to the runway on Sunday night (March 8) at NeueHouse in West Hollywood.
The show marks the second annual collaborative show with Cowan and Cartoon Network’s “The Powerpuff Girls,” brand to celebrate IWD. The 24-year-old British designer gave Los Angeles a look into his world of fantasy, glamour, and sparkle. The show featured a fun, vibrant signature PowerPuff Girl color palette with “Blossom” pinks, “Buttercup” greens and “Bubbles” blues paired with his signature voluminously furry shoulder accents and glitz. Lots of it.
In a few short years, Cowan has become fashion’s front runner with his spectacular runway shows and one of kind red-carpet creations. His impressive A-list client roster includes Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Naomi Campbell, Nicki Minaj, Cardi B, Miley Cyrus, Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, Lizzo, and more.
The show’s mood felt more like a party than a fashion show. The room was color washed in purple and pink lighting with a giant disco ball in the center and silver palm trees lining the stage. Real Housewives of Beverly Hills cast member, Lisa Rinna and her husband, Harry Hamlin, sat front row and cheered on their daughter Delilah Hamlin as she walked the runway.
21-year-old Delilah wore an oversized shoulder black feathered long-sleeved, ruched purple, velvet turtleneck mini dress. Her look was finished with a large white head wrap and leather belt.
Other famous faces on the catwalk included Meghan Trainor, Nikita Dragun, Veronika Vilim, and model Jillian Mercado. The show’s diverse cast of models paid tribute to a broad spectrum of women, including the trans and disabled community who are changing the beauty and fashion industry.
The star-studded crowd included: Sex and The City’s Jason Lewis and his fiance Liz Godwin, Gigi Gorgeous and her partner Nats Getty, Real Housewives of OC Braunwyn Windham-Burke, Singer Carly Rae Jepsen, Rebecca Black, Alyson Stoner, Kalen Allen of The Ellen Show, Gigi Goode of RuPaul’s Drag Race, Patrick Starrr, model Shaun Ross, singer Lykke Li, and fashion stylist B. Akerlund.
The collaboration between Christian Cowan and Cartoon Network’s beloved cartoon girl fighting trio proves that anything can be done in a dress! The night’s presentation closed with the designer joining three of his models on the runway, including Grammy winner Meghan Trainor, Kellee Moran, and trans model, Nikita Dragun.
The night included a silent auction which benefited the LA-based non-profit organization, InHerShoes Movement. A pair of Giuseppe Zanotti x Christian Cowan gold watch heels with a retail value of $2,510 dollars were up for bid with 100% of the proceeds going toward the movement.
