Facebook owned Instagram has removed their IGTV button which used to be at the top right corner of the app for long-form videos (up to an hour) instead of the standard 60 second Stories tool. The IGTV button was introduced to the platform in 2018 however Instagram claims that most users didn’t use the IGTV button so the company removed it.
According to CNN, Instagram has stated "As we've continued to work on making it easier for people to create and discover IGTV content, we've learned that most people are finding IGTV content through previews in Feed, the IGTV channel in Explore, creators' profiles and the standalone app," a spokesperson said. "Very few are clicking into the IGTV icon in the top right corner of the home screen in the Instagram app."
