Lionsgate dropped its latest trailer today for the movie Spiral: From the Book of Saw, featuring comedian Chris Rock and Samuel L. Jackson.
The official synopsis reads:
“A criminal mastermind unleashes a twisted form of justice in Spiral, the terrifying new chapter from the book of Saw. Working in the shadow of his father, an esteemed police veteran (Samuel L. Jackson), brash Detective Ezekiel ‘Zeke’ Banks (Chris Rock) and his rookie partner (Max Minghella) take charge of a grisly investigation into murders that are eerily reminiscent of the city’s gruesome past. Unwittingly entrapped in a deepening mystery, Zeke finds himself at the center of the killer’s morbid game.”
Rock serves as both a producer and actor in the film. Spiral will be the first notable title to be released from Lionsgate in wake of theaters re-opening as covid-19 restrictions ease.
The trailer highlights the ninth installment of the “Saw” franchise, which first got its start in 2004 with the original film directed by James Wan. The release for “Spiral” was originally slated for October 23, 2020, but was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic to its current release date of May 14, 2021.
