Feminist thriller-comedy Man of God is joining the Geffen Playhouse’s 2019/2020 season lineup. The play is directed by Maggie Burrows (Spacebar, Damsels) and written by Anna Moench (Mothers, Birds of North America).
Man of God follows four girls in a Korean Christian youth group on a mission trip to Bangkok who discover that their esteemed pastor has hidden a camera in their hotel bathroom. Samantha is personally hurt by his actions while Jen is more worried about how this incident will affect her college applications. Mimi wants revenge and Kyung-Hwa thinks everyone needs to adjust their expectations of men. Man of God is about that moment when girls realize the male gaze has been watching all along—and decide they’re definitely gonna do something about it.
Previews for Man of God begin Tuesday, March 3, in the Audrey Skirball Kenis Theater at Geffen Playhouse. Opening night is Thursday, March 12, and the production will close Sunday, April 12. Tickets are priced at $30 - $120.
Tickets for the show are available in person at the Geffen Playhouse box office at 10886 Le Conte Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90024, by phone at (310) 208-5454, and online at www.geffenplayhouse.org.
