On Thursday (April 11), Ridley Scott, and costars including Denzel Washington debuted the the first trailer for “Gladiator II” via a pre-recorded video at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, Nevada. Paramount Pictures chose The Colosseum in Caesars Palace, a Las Vegas hotel for the event, recreating Ancient Rome vibes with a modern twist.
The sequel is follow up to the 2000 hit film Gladiator which first introduced Maximus Decimus Meridius (Russell Crowe) to the world. Twenty-four years later, Scott returns to the arena with "Gladiator 2" and Lucius (Paul Mescal), the nephew of Commodus, played by Joaquin Phoenix in the original film. The events of the story will take place many years after the first film’s ending.
Gladiator II also stars the likes of Joseph Quinn and Connie Nielsen. It is expected to premiere in theaters on November 22, 2024.
