Rachel Sennott shines as stand-up comedian Sam in I Used to be Funny by writer-director Ally Pankiw.
The Netflix film delves into two versions of Sam’s life as a struggling comedian in the wake of a traumatizing event. Although this film debuted in June, the title is just streaming now on Netflix. This movie was surprisingly good in all the right ways.
The story exists between the present, where Sam tries to recover from her trauma and get back on stage, and the past, where memories of Brooke make it harder and harder to ignore the petulant teen's sudden disappearance.
👏Rachel Sennott was great in this. The entire cast did a fantastic job, and their characters truly felt like real people. The talent includes Olga Petsa, Jason Jones, Sabrina Jalees, Caleb Hearon, and more.
