Host Nikki Glaser kicked off the evening with jokes about Ozempic and politics, then playfully teased several celebrities present. During her monologue Glaser enlisted Adam Sandler to take a whack at saying Timothée Chalamet’s voice in his inimitable style, and he dutifully obliged with a “Chal-a-maaaaaay!”

"Shōgun" claimed a third of the twelve TV awards, as the epic drama set in feudal Japan once again dominated the Emmys. Other notable winners included 'Emilia Peréz,' 'The Brutalist,' 'Hacks,' and 'Baby Reindeer,' with individual accolades going to Zoe Saldaña, Adrien Brody, Kieran Culkin, Jeremy Allen White, Colin Farrell, Anna Sawai, Sebastian Stan, Demi Moore, Jodie Foster, and Ali Wong.

Zoe Saldana, one of the many first-time winners at the ceremony, began the show with an emotional acceptance speech.

"Hacks" won best series and a Globe for lead actress Jean Smart. In the film categories, Demi Moore received her first Globe for "The Substance", and "Conclave" won best screenplay.

Emilia Pérez received the awards for best motion picture — musical or comedy and best non-English language film, with Zoe Saldaña winning best supporting actress for her role. The film's song “El Mal” earned the best original song award.

An epic film tracing the history of the 20th century, “The Brutalist” took awards for star Adrien Brody and director Brady Corbet in addition to its win the drama balloting.

The other top musical/comedy acting honor went to Sebastian Stan — a two-time nominee this year — for “A Different Man.” Stan expressed his pride at both of his nominated roles, the other coming for his portrayal of a young Donald Trump in “The Apprentice.” “We can’t be afraid and look away,” Stan said.

The last major acting award was claimed by Fernanda Torres for the Brazilian movie “I’m Still Here.” She dedicated her victory to her mother, Fernanda Montenegro, who was the first and, until this year, the only Brazilian actress nominated for a Golden Globe in 1998.

Universal's "Wicked" claimed the newly introduced award for cinematic and box-office achievement, acknowledging a film that earned over $680 million globally, as award shows strive to celebrate movies that draw audiences to theaters in the era of streaming.

Repeat winner's include Kieran Culkin, for the film “A Real Pain” after being nominated five times and winning once for “Succession.” Colin Farrell secured his third Golden Globe for his role in “The Penguin,” a series centered on the Batman antagonist. Farrell joked about the extensive makeup for the character, saying, “I suppose it’s prosthetics from now on.”

Jodie Foster also won her fourth Golden Globe — the first having come 36 years ago for “The Accused” — out of 11 nominations in her career, for the HBO limited series “True Detective: Night Country.”

"Conclave" received the award for best screenplay, credited to writer Peter Straughan, while Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross won for their score in the seductive tennis romance "Challengers."

In animation, the Latvian film “Flow,” built around a wordless cat, overcame Disney’s theatrical blockbuster sequels “Inside Out 2” and “Moana 2,” among others, to take the top prize.

A previous event celebrated Viola Davis with the Cecil B. DeMille Award and Ted Danson with the Carol Burnett Award, the latter established in 2019, acknowledging their contributions to entertainment and television, respectively.
