In a crazy twist of fate it turns out that actor, Tom Hanks is related to America's favorite neighbor, Mister Rogers. Hanks plays the role of Rogers in his upcoming film "A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood."
On Sunday, Access Hollywood sprung the news on Hanks that he is a sixth cousin to Fred Rogers, who starred as Mister Rogers on the popular children's TV show via Ancestry.com research.
"It all just comes together, you see," Hanks told Access Hollywood when the show informed him of the relation.
Hanks claims that he had no idea about his family ties to Roger’s when he accepted the role. Ancestry figured out the two are sixth cousins, with a common ancestor, Johannes Meffert. Their succeeding ancestors had the last name, Mefford.
The film, A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood premieres on November 22, 2019.
